My name is Sundeep Rai, and I am currently a sophomore pre-med student studying biochemistry at the University of Washington in Seattle. I am in the University's Honors Program, and am a proud member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity.

I moved to the Pacific Northwest at the age of seven, and have since developed a strong passion for the outdoors. My favorite outdoor activities include skiing, hiking, kayaking, and mountain biking.

This June, I will be travelling to Christchurch, New Zealand, to study abroad for a semester at the University of Canterbury. As an adrenaline junky, I have dreamed of visiting New Zealand for a long time. I will be spending much of my time in New Zealand skiing and hiking.

I have participated in volunteer work my entire life. I do a lot of work with Habitat for Humanity, and Bikes for Kids, a local group in NE Tacoma that aims to repair bicycles given to us from the community and donate the bikes to kids in need. After learning more about the devastating earthquake that struck Christchurch, I couldn't help but feel the need to help.

I am excited by this incredible opportunity, and am looking forward to establishing strong connections within the community of Christchurch. To me, the only experience better than travelling along a mountain range and skiing is raising money towards a cause at the same time.
