My Campaign 

 

I am raising money for Gap Filler, an initiative dedicated to bringing the

community of Christchurch closer together. Gap Filler aims to do this by

taking vacant sites awaiting development throughout the city, and

temporarily filling them with creative projects to brighten the city.

 

Gap Filler has already established projects such as mini a mini golf course

spread throughoutdowntown, a community book exchange, a community

bike shed, a dancepad, citywide artwork and more. Gap Filler is a very

unique charitable trustdevoted to uplifting the Christchurch community

by providing entertainment and hope.

My Journey

 

As part of my campaign, I will be travelling along

the Southern Alps of New Zealand, visiting ten

different ski areas. I will ski every run on

each mountain in just 14 days. I will conclude this

adventure by heli-skiing the Mt. Cook region.

My Calling

 

I first made the decision to study abroad in Christchurch based solely off my passion for skiing and outdoor adventure. It wasn't until after I had made this decision and learned more about Christchurch that I became inspired me to put together this campaign. 

 

It saddened me to learn that while many people from across the world travel to New Zealand to explore its natural beauty, most travelers leave Christchurch off their itinerary, believing there is nothing left for Christchurch to offer, and fearing for their safety in a city plagued by earthquakes.

 

I desired to explore New Zealand, have the adventure of a lifetime, and give back to the community of Christchurch during my time in New Zealand. This desire, combined with my determination to put myself through a difficult challenge, developed into the idea of raising money while skiing the Southern Alps of New Zealand.
